IWTP Training Grant

The Incumbent Worker Training Program is a partnership between the Louisiana Department of Labor, business and industry, and training providers. The IWTP is designed to benefit business and industry by assisting in the skill development of existing employees and thereby increasing employee productivity and the growth of the company.

Their improvements are expected to result in the creation of new jobs, the retention of jobs that otherwise may have been eliminated, and an increase in wages for trained workers.

You may visit the Louisiana Workforce Commission website for more information, or contact Melissa Pierce 985-868-5513.

SEMS Compliance Assistance

Effective November 15, 2011, The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has made it mandatory for all operators working under their jurisdiction to have a SEMS plan in place. SEMS stands for Safety and Environmental Management Systems, which prior to the date mentioned above was a recommended practice through API RP 75. This mandate has brought about the need for contractors working in the gulf to have specific HSE policies and competent training programs in place.

We have consultants that are available to assist contractors in making sure that they are compliant with the requirements that are set upon them by their operator clients.

ISNetworld® Compliance Assistance

HSE Management Systems

SafeZone has developed a new approach to solving Health, Safety, and Environmental issues with our HSE management system (HSEMS), which has taken the place of our safety manual that aids in the development of safe work practices. The HSEMS provides the framework to manage the ever-changing aspects of HSE with regards to regulatory and client demands. We feel that the key attributes of a comprehensive HSEMS should include such areas as leadership and accountability, operations involvement, management of change, and continuous improvement through assessment, along with traditional regulatory work practice standards.

We see this new approach as an improvement over the past models; one that incorporates the aspects of OSHAs 18001 and 30CFR250 Subpart S (SEMS) to meet compliance with the changing environment of HSE worldwide. When properly developed, deployed and administered, the HSE management system ensures clear ownership and accountability at all levels. This results in a culture where all employees are personally involved. They recognize and accept their role and voluntarily own the daily and long-range direction of the organization.

Comprehensive Safety Program & Company Specific Audits

SafeZone’s safety audits are a thorough, disciplined, and structured approach toward evaluating management systems, the work force, as well as the physical property or plant itself. As a result, we try to relate the strengths that we find and utilize them in the possible solutions to any weakness or deficiencies also found to be present. A comprehensive written evaluation of our findings will be furnished upon completion, along with a management meeting to discuss these findings and suggested recommendations.

SafeZone is here to assist you in adequately preparing your company for an upcoming audit with a potential or existing client. Many operator clients will perform a desktop audit to ensure that their contractors have adequate HSE policies and procedures in place to be able to work on-site for their company. We can help you to prepare for audits by making sure that your company has the appropriate safety programs in place and all training is being done and documented properly. Aside from helping your company to prepare for an audit, we can also represent your company in an audit as requested.

Safety Meetings

SafeZone’s safety meetings are structured to suit your particular industry, current operation, or any particular safety topic you may desire. The meetings will be designed and delivered to instruct your employees on how to perform jobs productively, efficiently, and safely. They will address the particular hazard recognition and control procedures as well as the use of required personal protective equipment. These meetings can be conducted at your workplace, or the job site, and can be held anytime and anywhere.

Training Matrix and Documentation

SafeZone can provide our clients with a computerized training matrix listing their employees and the training received on a given date. Based off this training matrix, it is the clients responsibility to manage the matrix and call to line up training courses that have expired. Upon client request, we can manage this database along with other specialized training to ensure that your employees remain in compliance and all trainings are up to date.

Coast Guard & ISM Audit Assistance

The US Coast Guard is responsible for inspecting vessels that are registered in the US and foreign ships in US waters. Inspections are conducted under Flag State responsibility or Port State responsibility. The four basic categories of vessels subject to inspection are Passenger Vessels, Tank Vessels, Cargo Vessels, and Special Use Vessels. Most vessels in the Gulf of Mexico fall under the Special Use Vessels category.

SafeZone can provide pre-audit assistance for safety and security programs in order to facilitate this inspection process. This allows the client to be proactive in correcting issues and assuring the safe operation of their vessels and facilities.
